Vacuum Bell Jar Chambers

Glass Bell Jars are ideal for degassing or vacuum testing when an all round vision is required. They are also excellent for educational teaching aids where experiments such as “Bell in a Vacuum” can be demonstrated.

The standard Bell Jar Systems fall within two different groups. The SF group, and the VF group.

If you wish to make an enquiry please head to the contact page or use the quick contact form.

VF – BELL JAR VACUUM SYSTEM  – MODEL BJ-12-VF

OPTIONS:

  • Bell jars can be supplied to maximum height of 500mm at no extra charge.
  • Acrylic implosion guards (recommended)
  • Stainless steel flexible vacuum hose
  • Viton ‘L’ gasket.
  • Vacuum regulator (see our Accessories Page)
  • A variety of vacuum pumps including rotary vane oil sealed, diaphragm and carbon vaned oil free pumps, and scroll pumps. (see our DVP Pumps Page for DVP Vacuum pumps.)

The model BJ-12-VF  will comprise:

A borosilicate glass bell jar measuring 315mm OD x 301mm ID x 356mm H, fire polished and ground on the open ends and fully annealed after manufacture, suitable for many vacuum applications. The seals are Nitrile rubber ‘L’ gasket. (Viton rubber seal available as an option).

The base plate will be machined from 304 Stainless Steel mounted on three legs with feet suitable for standing/securing to the bench. The pumping port will be offset from the centre. The base plate will include two service ports as standard. One NW25 and one NW16. Both will be fitted with an ‘O’ ring, blank plate and clamp.  All ports are positioned 120° apart on the same 260mm  PCD

A vacuum manifold will be fitted comprising an Edwards NW16 pump isolation valve, an Edwards AV10K NW10 system vent valve and a 63mm diameter glycerine filled vacuum gauge scaled 0-1000Mbar together with all the necessary NW fittings to form a complete vacuum system. The manifold will terminate in a rifled nozzle.

The base plate is also fitted with two service ports as standard. The first port is NW25 and is fitted with an ‘O’ ring, blank plate and clamp. The second port is 3/8” BSP and is fitted with a blanking plug.  All ports are positioned 120° apart on the same PCD.

The system is suitable for use at pressures down to <1 x 10-6 mbar.

After manufacture the system is leak tested including a pressure rise test.

SF – BELL JAR VACUUM SYSTEM – MODEL BJ-12-SF

OPTIONS:

  • Bell jars can be supplied to maximum height of 500mm at no extra charge.
  • Acrylic implosion guards (recommended)
  • Stainless steel flexible vacuum hose
  • Viton ‘L’ gasket.
  • Vacuum regulator (see our Accessories Page)
  • A variety of vacuum pumps including rotary vane oil sealed, diaphragm and carbon vaned oil free pumps, and scroll pumps. (see our DVP Pumps Page for DVP Vacuum pumps.)

The model BJ-12-SF will comprise:

A borosilicate glass bell jar measuring 315mm OD x 301mm ID x 356mm H, fire polished and ground on the open end and fully annealed after manufacture, suitable for many vacuum applications. The seal will be a Nitrile rubber ‘L’ gasket. (Viton rubber seals available as an option).

A vacuum manifold will be fitted comprising a stainless steel isolation valve, a stainless steel system vent valve and a 63mm diameter glycerine filled vacuum gauge scaled 0-1000Mbar together with all the necessary Stainless Steel screwed fittings. The manifold will terminate in a riffled nozzle to accept a flexible 12mm ID vacuum hose (not included)..

The system is suitable for use at pressures down to 1 x 10-3 mbar.

After manufacture the system is leak mass spectrometer tested and subjected to a pressure rise test.

Safety Warning:

We strongly recommend that all our Vacuum Bell Jar Degassing Systems are fitted with an implosion guard during use.

We can supply Acrylic transparent implosion guards to fit all of our Vacuum Bell Jar Systems.
